PULSE is the most powerful program for electrophysiological clamp experiments. Running under Windows operating
systems and MacOS 9 or lower.
It has been developed with the help of leading laboratories worldwide to meet the requirements of the
scientific community. It provides the optimal solution for acquisition and analysis of
pulsed data. PULSE is custom-made for the application with the EPC 9, but any other
amplifier also receives a tremendous boost with PULSE, which supports all patch clamp
and voltage clamp amplifiers.
PULSE is the virtual front panel of the EPC 9. It provides you with information of the amplifier state and you can control all values by either mouse or keyboard. All EPC 9 settings will be stored with the raw data for easy reconstruction, analysis, and documentation of your experimental procedures. Automatic routines compensate for leak and series resistance transients and help you to perform these tasks faster and more accurate than even the most experienced user. PULSE removes the expense of purchasing additional hardware: the sampled data is displayed on the highly customizable digital oscilloscope. With the integrated pulse generator it is very simple to create or to edit complex pulse patterns. A pool of such pulse templates can be stored and the templates are available for execution by just pressing one button. Other devices like perfusion systems or manipulators can also be controlled by the software.
The extensions to PULSE provide further functionality: PULSE includes driver software for EPC 10, EPC 9, EPC 8, EPC 7, and ITC-16, ITC-18, and LIH 1600. The EPC 10 and LIH 1600 are not supported by PULSE on MacOS 9 or lower. Further programs such as PULSEFIT, PULSETOOLS or TAC can immediately process the data obtained with PULSE. Export functions transfer the data to other programs such as IGOR, or save the date as ASCII files.
