Revision “N” Improvements

Extended C-fast Compensation Range

EPC 10 USB Revision „N“ amplifiers feature an extended C-fast compensation range in low and medium gain range. The extended C-fast range allows compensation of capacitance values up to about 200 pF. Manual as well as automatic compensation is supported in the extended C-fast compensation range. Compensation of the fast capacitance reduces the noise in lipid bilayer experiments significantly.

The extended C-fast range can be activated in the EPC 10 USB menu.

Filter-2 Bypass

EPC 10 USB Revision „N“ amplifiers have an option for by-passing "Filter2". In the amplifier dialog of PATCHMASTER, the filter characteristic can now be set either to "Bessel", "Butterworth" or "Bypass". If "Bypass" is selected, then the Filter 2 current signal is only filtered by Filter 1. The "Imon2" channel in the pulse generator then records the Filter1 current signal.

3-Electrode Mode

EPC 10 USB Revision „N“ amplifiers support an additional 3-Electrode Mode. When the EPC 10 USB is equipped with an optional "3-electrode headstage", this new feature can be activated in the Configuration Window of PATCHMASTER. Once this feature is activated, the user can select the mode of the headstage between 2-electrode and 3-electrode mode for each individual amplifier in the Amplifier window.
