The ITC-16 is no longer available. It was replaced by the improved
LIH-1600 interface.
The Instrutech ITC-16 interface is an external data acquisition unit that is attached to the host computer through a dedicated interface board (PCI-16). The ITC-16 provides eight analog input channels, four analog output channels, sixteen digital input and sixteen digital output lines. It is capable of reading one input and writing one output channel as fast as every five microseconds or as slow as every sixty-five milliseconds. This sampling rate can be adjusted in one millisecond increments. This allows acquisition rates of fifteen hertz up to two hundred kilohertz. The interface uses a sixteen bit A/D converter. This results in fourteen bit resolution for acquisition rates to one hundred kilohertz which degrades to twelve bits at two hundred kilohertz. The D/A converters are fixed to sixteen bit resolution. The ITC-16 contains thirty-two kilosample FIFO memory for input and output data. Input data is acquired by the ITC-16 and stored into the FIFO memory where it can then be accessed by the host computer. Output data is written into the FIFO memory by the host computer and read out by the ITC-16. This allows data acquisition to be performed by the ITC-16 independent of the activity of the host computer. All analog input and output lines as well as the digital channels on the ITC-16 are optically isolated from the host computer. This optical isolation eliminates the possibility of ground loop problems that arise when connecting equipment together. It also eliminates computer noise from the analog ground. This feature makes extremely low noise recordings possible. |
